Q.C.’s Scott brings in bail jumpers her way in reality series

Q.C.’s Scott brings in bail jumpers her way in reality series | EastValleyTribune.com: "If you’ve jumped bail and are approached by a pretty blonde in a tight tank top with a friendly smile and an easy laugh, you might want to consider making a run for it.

Chances are she’s Sandra Scott of Queen Creek, and her camera crew won’t be far behind.

Scott is a mother of two and former stripper, turned pro wrestler, turned porn star, turned private investigator who has parlayed her talents for show business and tracking fugitives into a reality show. “Wife, Mom, Bounty Hunter” on the WE network features Scott’s balancing act between her duties as a wife and mother and her profession as a recovery agent. The show’s April 20 debut was the WE channel’s strongest showing for an original series.

“You go into a lot of situations that are going to be volatile and unpredictable, and you have to be able to remain calm in the face of danger and hostility,” says Scott, 41. “Being the mother of a teenage daughter really qualifies me for that.” "

Although Baker is being held in Ohio, the warrant for her arrest was issued in Kentucky, so she would be required to report to Kentucky in 30 days."

Bounty Hunters Zone in on James 'Whitey' Bulger for $1m Prize
UNITED KINGDOM - James 'Whitey' Bulger is an organized crime boss, part of the Irish underground in Boston, Massachusetts. Or, at least, he was until 1995 when he fled the United States to avoid indictment. Whitey was allegedly part of a $350 million art theft and was tipped off regarding his imminent indictment by John Connolly, an FBI agent working for him. Connolly is now in jail, but Whitey is still at large. He is wanted on multiple charges, including charges relating to organized crime, 19 murders, drug offenses, extortion, money laundering, and possibly others. Whitey committed the bulk of his crimes in the 1970s and 1980s, but his offenses are serious enough that even after all this time he is in the FBI's top ten most-wanted list. Thanks to a $1 million bounty, Whitey is also extremely interesting to bounty hunters, who have been searching the Canary Islands for him..."

Bail Bonds News Roundup, June 1, 2007

Bail Bonds News Roundup, June 1, 2007 - AboutBail.com Bail Bond Agent Directory: "Another summer week has gone by and another week of exciting news stories has caught our eye. The AboutBail.com staff has been busy reading about all the bail news that affects bail professionals, and these are the stories that grabbed us this week:

US Killers Sought By Bounty Hunters in Cuba
NEW JERSEY - Assata Shakur, also known as Joanne Chesimard, has been hiding in Cuba for the past two decades, but now it appears that some determined bounty hunters are setting their sights on her and on some 60 other American fugitives in Cuba. Now that Cuban leader Fidel Castro seems to be ill, the asylum he has granted to US fugitives over the past four decades seems precarious. Shakur, a former member of the Black Panthers and Black Liberation Army (BLA) was found guilty of killing a state trooper and was sentenced to life imprisonment in 1973. She fled to Cuba after a raid on her jai. There is a one million dollar bounty on her, dating back to 2005. (The Sunday Times, May 27, 2007)"

La. Bail Bond Agent Accused of Taking Premiums

La. Bail Bond Agent Accused of Taking Premiums: "The Louisiana Department of Insurance announced that a Baton Rouge-area bail bond agent has been arrested and issued a cease and desist order and summary suspension of his insurance license for allegedly misappropriating insurance premiums in three parishes.

Adrian Remand Jackson, age 34, was arrested by the State Police Insurance Fraud Unit investigators on 45 counts of felony theft and 29 counts of insurance fraud. At that time he also was served by Department of Insurance Fraud Section investigators with an order to cease and desist from engaging in the business of insurance and a summary suspension of his insurance/bail bonds license.

Jackson is alleged to have misappropriated or otherwise converted to his own use more than $21,000 he received in bail bond premium payments. The bonds were written in East Baton Rouge, East Feliciana and West Feliciana parishes in 2005 and 2006."

Many say bail system needs reform

New Haven Register - Many say bail system needs reform: "Bail industry spokesmen, state prosecutors and law enforcement officials urged lawmakers Monday to reform a bail system they say has turned into a 'feeding frenzy' of cutthroat competition.

The fierce competition has lead many bail bond companies to 'undercut' the state’s legal rates, which normally requires defendants to pay 7 percent to 10 percent of the amount of their bail to a bondsman, who will then be liable for the full amount if the defendant were to flee.

Many Connecticut bail bond companies are offering bail bonds for just 2 percent or 3 percent of the bail set by a judge, lawmakers were told during the hearing. Several officials said judges appear to be setting higher bails for defendants than in the past because of the cut-rate fees being charged."

Convoluted system working in favor of illegal immigrants

Modbee.com | The Modesto Bee :: Convoluted system working in favor of illegal immigrants: "There is no hotter debate in this country, and particularly in California, than illegal immigration.

The mere mention gets folks' blood boiling, as evidenced last month when I wrote about some people who had entered the United States illegally from Mexico and obtained stolen or otherwise fraudulent Social Security numbers. They used the false IDs when they bought cars from used-car lots in Ceres and Modesto.

Then, through a Bay Area attorney, they filed civil lawsuits against the dealers, claiming that they were not provided with Spanish-language contracts."

Bond set for Wymore man involved in high-speed chase through Beatrice

Beatrice Daily Sun: "Bond has been set for a 24-year-old rural Wymore man arrested after a high-speed chase through parts of Beatrice Friday evening with two young children in the back seat of his car.

Following a hearing in Gage County Court this week, appearance bond for Bryon M. Forney was set at $100,000, with $10,000 deposit and $20,000 bail bond.

County Judge Steven Timm also ordered Forney to not have any contact with any children younger than 10 years old either directly or indirectly except through legal counsel."
