Car Thief Calls Bail Bond Agent for Bail After Stealing Agent's Car
Tracy, CA (PRWeb) January 26, 2007 -- John Yonan, a California licensed bail agent and owner of Minuteman Bail Bonds at www.minutemanbail.com, recently walked out to his driveway and discovered his late model, fire engine red Mitsubishi Eclipse GS-T Turbo sports car was missing. He soon realized it had been stolen and called the local police (case #06-03804). The officer gathered information about the car, and Mr. Yonan was told that most stolen vehicles are recovered within a day or two. Sure enough, that same afternoon, the police called Mr. Yonan and informed him his car was recovered in Oakdale, CA about 45 miles away and that he could drive over to Oakdale and pick up his car.
The Oakdale police had the car towed to a local car dealer and after arriving at the dealer, Mr. Yonan inspected his vehicle. There was a lot of damage. Someone had quite a lot of fun speeding around in his car. There were dents, scratches, bald tires and he would soon realize the engine was rattling and may need to be replaced.

Mother, daughter operate 2 Enid bail bonding businesses
Judkins has been in the business for 11 years. She originally was a private investigator, and a friend who also was a private investigator suggested she try the bail bonding business to help support investigating. The bail bonding business now pays all the bills.
Brinkman was licensed in 1998 to help her mother and began coming to Enid helping with office work until her father became ill and she moved back to Enid to help care for him. Shortly after that, she began working full time.
They now own two separate businesses. Brinkman owns Ace Bail Bonds, and Judkins owns Action Bail Bonds. Brinkman currently is appealing the suspension of her license, because of a misinterpretation of the law governing bond agents.
Thirty years ago, a female bail bond agent was rare, but there now are more than 500 bail bond businesses in the state. Many women work in the business, Brinkman said."

Paris, Snoop and Mel. Who Else Got Jailed and Bailed in 2006?
2006 proved a tumultuous year for many celebrities. Many charges of drunk driving and other bad behavior had stars arrested – and posting bond.
The staff at the AboutBail.com bail bond agent directory brings you an overview of the stars that got into hot water in 2006:
Paris gets plastered | |
In September 2006, Paris Hilton was arrested on DUI charges. She just barely met the minimum limit for driving under the influence (she registered .08, the minimum for a DUI arrest in the state). She was released on a recognizance bond and left shortly after arriving at the police station.
Busta gets Busta'ed | |
Rapper Busta Rhymes was arrested for allegedly being involved in an altercation in late 2006. The incident led to a court appearance, where Rhymes was arraigned on misdemeanor assault charges and posted bail of $3,500.
Natasha Lyonne – Whoa! Don't get caught with your pets down.
In December 2006, American Pie actress Natasha Lyonne turned herself in at a New York court after a bench warrant was issued for her arrest in January. The warrant stemmed from a 2004 incident of alleged harassment and trespassing. Lyonne allegedly threatened her neighbor, broke a mirror in the neighbor's apartment, and threatened to sexually molest the neighbor's dog. Lyonne was also arrested on DUI charges in 2001 and released on $2,000 bail.
Wesley tries to snipe the IRS
In early December 2006, actor Wesley Snipes was arrested at the Orlando International Airport for tax evasion. Snipes was indicted on federal criminal charges for his role in a tax avoidance scheme that allegedly included him seeking $12 million in fraudulent refunds and failing to file six years of tax returns. Snipes claimed he never misrepresented his income. The case is ongoing.
Rip gets Ripped | |
Actor Rip Torn was arrested for drunk driving in early December 2006 following a collision and refused a sobriety test. Rip also received a DUI charge two years previously for which he was acquitted.
Snoops in tha Dogg House
In early December 2006, rapper Snoop Dogg was arrested near Los Angeles on weapons and narcotics charges. A police search of the star's car found marijuana, cocaine, and a firearm in a false compartment of the rapper's car. The star was booked, and bail set at $60,000, which the rapper paid. This is not Snoop's only brush with the law in 2006. In October, he was arrested at Burbank Airport after a gun and marijuana was found in the celeb's car. At the time, he was booked and released on $35,000 bail. Earlier in December, Snoop surrendered to California police after he allegedly tried to carry a baton onto an airplane at Orange County John Wayne Airport. He posted $150,000 bond and was released.
Mel Gibson – Oi Vey! | |
One of the most notorious DUI arrests of the year came in July 2006, when actor and director Mel Gibson was pulled over. As the star was being booked, he reportedly went on an hate-filled tirade filled with anti-Semitic slurs. At the time of his arrest, Gibson blew a 0.12% breathalyzer. He pleaded no contest to drunk driving in August.
It's Saturday Night… and I'm getting hammered!

According to the NYPD, Mos Def pulled up outside Radio City Music Hall (after MTV's Video Music Awards) in a flat-bed truck and began an impromptu perform, quickly attracting a large crowd. The purpose was to raise awareness for people who still need assistance due to the 2005 hurricanes. The rapper was detained by police for several hours before being eventually released on bail.

50 Cent Rapper - $300K Car

Jaywalking don hit by full force of the law
Felipe Fernández-Armesto, 56, visiting Professor of Global Environmental History at Queen Mary, University of London, was attending the conference of the American Historical Association last Thursday when he was caught jaywalking.
“I’m a mass of contusions and grazes,” he said in an interview shown on the website YouTube.
“I come from a country where you can cross the road where you like,” he said. “It hadn’t occurred to me that I wasn’t allowed to cross the road between the two main conference venues.”"

Special Conditions Merit Expedited Immigration Background Checks
Background checks form the bottleneck that slows this process to an average of eight months for all applicants. The U.S. Citizenship and Immigration Service (USCIS) requires an FBI fingerprint check, FBI name check, and an IBIS name check on applicants for residency. IBIS is a database that allows USCIS to check names against approximately 20 different federal agencies' records. The FBI receives more than 60,000 name check requests each week, and there is still a backload of unprocessed requests numbering more than 2 million.
Because federal law requires that applicants receive notification of the decision on a residency application within 120 days of the interview, some applicants have successfully filed suit when the process has stretched beyond this time limit due to background checks. In fact, the FBI now considers a 'lawsuit pending in Federal Court' as grounds for expediting stalled background checks. The number of such lawsuits grew in 2005, with immigrants citing long waits on their applications for citizenship or residency.
USCIS officials are now refusing to schedule citizenship interviews and tests unless an applicant's background checks are "

Bounty Hunters, Fugitive Recovery Agents - PInow.com
The very idea of a bounty hunter may call to mind the Wild West, where shiftless strangers drifted into dusty towns to round up bad guys. In reality, a bail enforcement agent or a fugitive recovery agent is someone who brings back those who skip bond or bail and fail to show up for court hearings. Obviously, fugitive recovery agents are crucial, since they help the public in tracing criminals and ensuring that those criminals are no longer on the streets.
Why do you need a bail enforcement agent?
Surprisingly, bail enforcement is not the sole dominion of law enforcement officers and the courts. There are good reasons why the average person needs to be able to contact a good bail enforcement agent at any time:
* A loved one leaves before a bail hearing. Unfortunately, juvenile delinquency, gang affiliation, drug use, and other problems mean that most of us know someone who's been in court. If your child or a loved one panics and leaves before their court date, they become a fugitive. To prevent further legal problems, a fugitive recovery agent can help bring back your family member in time for their court case or trial.
* A criminal threatening your family skips bond. If you've been the victim of fraud, theft"

Bounty hunter appreciates job, but knows the danger | Asbury Park Press Online
Another who skipped bail and who was hiding in attic insulation stabbed him in the side of his vest. Luckily, it didn't injure him.
'We both fell through the ceiling,' he said.
'You really have to have it in you to be in this job,' said the 23-year-old fugitive recovery agent, also known as a bounty hunter.
Mustafa, a bounty hunter since 2002, works for four different bail bonds agents, including Main Street Bail Bonds in Freehold. He recovers suspects whose bond has been forfeited.
He was introduced to the profession by another fugitive recovery agent and fell in love with it.
'It's something new all of the time, and you see a different reality of life,' he said."
Posting bond so people can get out of jail sometimes means tracking them down | Asbury Park Press Online
Minutes later, Nick Stroboulis, Ali Mustafa and an assistant emerge from the vehicle and canvass the property, peering in windows and covering the back of the house. The blue light of a TV flickers in one of the front rooms.
Then, the front door opens.
'Fugitive recovery agents,' Stroboulis says to the shocked man at the door.
'Where's Jessica?' Mustafa asks as he enters.
Mustafa draws aside a curtain leading to another room and finds Jessica Richards. The 25-year-old, who was freed on $1,825 bail posted by bail bondsman Stroboulis, failed to appear on her court date on drug-related charges.
On the verge of tears, she agrees to go. She's placed in handcuffs, then the minivan. Her seatbelt is fastened.
'That's that, folks,' Mustafa says.
Another night in the life of a bail bonds agent.
In reality, much of Stroboulis' job as owner of Main Street Bail Bonds doesn't require hunting down bail jumpers, especially in the dramatic style of Duane 'Dog' C"
