No Bail For Man Charged in Baby Death

Alexander Stolte will remain in a Vermont prison while awaiting trial in the death of 1-year-old Kyleigh McDaniel of Andover, a judge ruled today.

Judge Thomas Devine denied bail for Stolte, who is charged with second-degree murder in the girl's death.

Stolte and his attorney, Daniel Sedon, appeared yesterday in Orange County District Court in Chelsea, Vt., and requested bail. Stolte has been in custody since March 18, and was denied bail at his arraignment the next day.

Sedon said yesterday that the evidence against Stolte is “circumstantial” and insufficient to justify holding him without bail.
